All this stress leads to them focusing less on school and starting to see lower academic results. This transition also affects them on an emotional level and can even stay with them for the rest of their lives, ultimately affecting their own marriage in the future. With little attention left to them, they turn to other activities for attention, including drugs and alcohol. While some children emerge from divorce as stronger individuals, others follow the wrong path and see the negative side effects
