The current 44th president of the United States is my favorite preferential candidate for the upcoming presidential election in November 2012. Analyze his views and actions on a range of issues Current politics will demonstrate that my support for my candidate is on target. Furthermore, the data will show the success of Obama's policies. Prominent economists, including Mark Gertler of New York University, have called the economic climate that Obama inherited “one of the worst financial crises since the Great Depression.” (Hilsenrath). There is no doubt that the economy and the candidate's economic policies will be the hottest topic of discussion in politics during the election season, along with topics such as foreign policy and energy. As a result, Obama's economic policies are either hailed by supporters or condemned by critics. However, in his State of the Union address he highlighted concerns about the middle class, the economy, the rich and the poor, and jobs. Obama wants to “revamp hiring by American manufacturers and – borrowing the phrase 'built to last' from the auto industry he helped save” and how he wants “the rich to play by the same rules as ordinary Americans” ( Cooper). Furthermore, Obama's policies on the role of government and the economy echo his expressed beliefs. He argued that “it is the government's job to promote a prosperous and equitable society” and “In the last 22 months, businesses have created more than three million jobs” (Cooper). Numerous signs of American economic recovery support Obama's policies. As a result, the US Department of Labor reported that “American employers created 200,000 jobs in December 2011, the unemployment rate fell to 8.5%, the lowest level in nearly three years ” and the economy “showed a net gain… in the middle of the paper. .....September 2008.
