Classwork and homework have become more challenging, but I have still found an outlet through reading. My English lessons also became more advanced, filling up my normal reading time with assigned books and poems that didn't fit into my idea of a good book. All along I knew that reading was not just a hobby, but a work process that needed to be followed. Later, during my freshman year of middle school, I found R.L. Stein's works Goosebumps. After reading the first story about a mummy trapped in a basement, I became so hooked on those stories, that by the beginning of seventh grade I had already read all the books in the collection. This was the first time I was truly unhappy about finishing a book. I felt there was no other reason to continue reading, as once I finished the book it would only lead me to emptiness. Then, after months of empty trips to the library and bookstore, I found a reason to actually start reading again. Star Wars. The books were a great spin-off of the movies I loved, making me want to read them all. This made me realize that it would create another hole, but it would just be filled by another obsession, like what Star Wars did to Goosebumps. An obstacle soon arose with the Star Wars novels. They were so hard to find that they had to be specially ordered through the Amazon site. This meant that my enjoyment was now limited to the amount of money I had, and even then I would have to wait that dreaded week for shipping. Also
