The true definition of betrayal to fail or defect especially in times of need. The book Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini is the story of betrayal of a boy named Amir who betrayed several people in his life and affected him throughout his life. In the novel Amir feels that sometimes the easiest way out of a situation is to betray someone. In his early childhood the acts of betrayal that Amir commits do not help Amir, he blames others for his guilt and finally lies to his father. For starters, Amir's first betrayal wasn't helping Hassen in the alley where he saw him get raped. This event happens right after Amir and Hassen won the kite flying competition, his trophy being his opponent's blue kite. Hassen had gone to retrieve the kite which was the trophy he had earned, with so much effort out of respect for his father. Amir had gone out looking for Hassen and the blue kite, once he found Hassen in an alley with some boys who had previously bothered him and Hassen. Amir does nothing to stop them from harassing his friend. “I felt paralyzed. I observed them up close on a boy I had grown up with, the boy whose hare-lipped face had been my first memory” (Hosseini 71). His act had prevented him from trying to help his so-called friend who he had grown up with. This would be a sign of inner hatred Hassen finally shows towards her. Due to his lack of confidence he allowed his friend to be raped. "I caught a glimpse of his face. I saw the resignation in it. It was a look I had seen before. It was the look of the lamb... I stopped looking and walked away from the alley... I had one last chance to make a decision. One last chance to decide who I would be. I could have walked into that alley and defended Hassen - the way he stood up... middle of paper... he would never have had to be reminded of the deed. horrible he had committed. Amir had stolen Hassen and Baba's right to the truth and betrayed them both by thinking only of what would make his conscience feel better and not thinking of anyone else. The acts that Amir commits may not be at all important, but in Baba's eyes he committed the worst sin of all. To conclude, Amir's acts show that sometimes the easiest way in a situation is to betray someone, even if it is someone close to him. You Amir's acts of betrayal that he had committed are not helping Hassen and turning his back on him in his time of need, blaming others for what he had done and betraying his father's trust and respect by committing theft, which is the worst sin of his father. . In times of need, betraying someone can be the simplest way out of a situation, but it doesn't always have the desired effects.
