Holocaust: a great mass slaughter or complete destruction of life, especially by fire (Holocaust, 1). The Holocaust was one of the gravest crimes ever committed against humanity. Adolf Hitler was a German of Austrian descent who convinced many others that the reason for all their problems was due to a race called the Jews. Once Hitler became Chancellor of Germany, he began to take control of the actions. Jews were targeted by the German government and forced to leave. This wasn't enough for him; he wanted to completely eliminate and act against this race because his ideal human being was only blond and blue-eyed (Witherbee, 1-4.). It is important that people around the world today and generations to come know about this disaster. In the books Maus I: My Father Bleeds History and Maus II: And Here My Troubles Began by Art Spiegelman greatly influenced me and my vision. Additionally, within this book you can better inform and help others be better citizens. Having this knowledge of Adolf Hitler's attempt to exterminate a race in the most terrifying ways is very important. Without hearing any details about what Hitler did to minimize the Jewish population, he attracts students and many others. Knowing exactly what happened and what was done to any person, whether a child, parent or grandparent, is heartbreaking. People growing up know that there are always rules to follow and if they don't they will/could get into trouble. Hearing these stories, some wonder why he was never stopped. Once the president of Germany died, Hitler raced to control to soon begin conquering the world. This tragedy helps many understand the judgment, racism, and stereotypes adopted by many in society. Not only do these explore the... center of the card... they were. His books show that silence can be the cause of many deaths. That we must all stand together on the right and not let anyone convince us that the wrong choices are the right ones. We are able to make better choices when we know the more terrifying ones that have been made. This is heartbreaking, but many others hope that we won't let something like this happen again.
