Social media has created many great social outcomes, but along with these positive outcomes come many negative outcomes and some outcomes that are just plain bad. Facebook and Twitter have introduced a whole new world to ways of conversing and meeting others. This cyber world that is created leads its users to use many if not all of its features and culture created outside of simply being online. This shows that social media is now not just an online thing, but it is an everyday thing in real life situations. It is up to the user to choose how to represent both themselves online and their elves in real life. When using online social media, many are given the task of describing themselves to find others or other pages with common interests. . While many do, some choices or descriptions vary based on the popular culture present at the time these overviews were edited. This causes a lot of people to put in things that they feel they will enjoy because that's what feels good at the time. The bright side is that many people can connect with others who share common interests like them and have conversations and create groups that foster their expression of these common interests. This has made conversation and creating groups easier because with a couple of clicks a group of people make their conversations private to each other from those who are not sure if they are interested in them. It also allows them to meet by simply logging in online and typing with each other to communicate instead of actually meeting face to face and causes a lot more planning to do so. The downside, however, is that people start posting things that physical friends had no idea about. Proving that social media causes a sense of... middle of paper... is a good thing, but it's this integration with popular culture and users' desire to be cool that has caused many of these failures to occur. We can improve enormously through social media and the many connections it gives us, but if we choose to be more indulgent about ourselves and not how things will affect us later or instantly in the real world, then social media will be a enormous ruin for the well-being of future generations to come. Again, it all depends on the way a user chooses to show themselves and express themselves through social media. The real world and social media have drifted apart in places they shouldn't have and connected in ways they shouldn't have. There is always good that allows many to continue to succeed and allows technology to grow. At this moment it seems that technology has intellectually surpassed the user.
