Elvis Presley was a famous man and loved by many people. He entered an era (the 1950s) when the ravages of the Great Depression and the world wars were over. People now began to have some freedom and appreciate what they loved, which was listening to music and living life to the fullest. The social change brought about by the 1950s significantly reflected the music, and Elvis Presley was born. Children were now beginning to rebel against their parents and had a lot of extra money to spend on records due to prosperity. During wars, money was limited and children and adults had to work very hard and save for survival purposes, but once the war was over money could be used for reasons of pleasure rather than just survival. Moreover, in the 50s our country had its own war, and I'm not talking about world wars, but about human inequality. The civil rights movement was one of the greatest social changes in history and was a time where many great artists prevailed and made songs about it. Elvis Presley showed how social changes can influence or reflect the history of rock “n” roll. Presley started a culture, his hairstyle, the way he dressed became a part of young people across the country. As I said, our country was fighting its own war against segregation, Elvis' music helps bring people together. White crowds didn't like his music, but black crowds listened to him too. He brought people together through music and showed the world that he could succeed. He was one of the artists who mastered crossover, bringing every color to appreciate his music.
