Among Arab countries, it is mainly performed in Palestine and Lebanon. In these countries, Dabke is usually performed in joyful ceremonies, moments of happiness, weddings and celebrations. In the Western world, Dabke is called “line dancing”. In this article I will talk about “Dabke” – Palestinian folk dance. We will learn about its history and what makes it important as well as unique. Our attention will focus on the places where it is usually performed and the performers, the costumes worn by the performers, the symbolism in the movements, the music and songs played during the performance. I will also present our personal experience regarding Dabke and how it can be preserved in the near future.
