Maria Sklodowska, who would later become Marie Curie, was one of the most brilliant physicists of her time. Maria was born on November 7, 1867 in Warsaw, Poland. His father Władysław and mother Bronsitwa had four more children, Zofia, Bronisława, Józef and Helena. His mother worked as a principal at a private school and his father was a professor of mathematics and physics at a local college in Poland. Her father was one of the reasons Maria became interested in studying physics. Maria began her love of science when she was young, she would learn from her father. Maria found physics interesting and wanted to grow up and be like her father. When Maria was ten years old, her older sister Zofia died of typhus. Unfortunately, when Maria was twelve years old her mother also died, but of tuberculosis. Maria graduated from high school when she was fifteen with honors and then began giving private lessons to children in Poland.
