The delay in delivery had very negative effects on UPS customers, although the company apologized to customers and explained the reasons for the delay in delivery. “UPS understands the importance of your holiday shipments,” the company said in a Christmas Day statement on its website. “However, the volume of air parcels in our system exceeded the capacity of our network immediately before Christmas, so some shipments were delayed” (Dokoupil, 2013). The apology from the company failed and there are still some customers who showed their anger towards this company on Facebook and Twitter. As for the problem of late delivery, a study from the University of Tennessee provided some suggestions. “First, extend delivery times for some specific customers; second, increase delivery times for customers; third, use greater shipping consolidation; next, increase the use of drop-and-hook pickups and deliveries; finally, move some deliveries from road to rail transport” (Po, 2014). And I think the methods have helped solve the problem, as no more late deliveries will occur during the year
