During my professional experiences I have recognized the importance of explicit and direct teaching. The "I do, we do and then you do" approach forms the core of my daily teaching practice. At the beginning of each lesson, I present clear and concise learning objectives and lesson objectives, which are visually displayed on the board. These learning objectives are included in each phase of the lesson from the orientation phase to the synthesis phase so that students have a clear learning objective in sight. In my teaching, two common acronyms, “WALT” and “WILF,” are implemented and used regularly to help successfully deliver content to students. The “WALT” (we are learning to) highlights my lesson goal and explicitly tells students what I look for in their work. The “WILF” (the one I am looking for) further supports my lesson objective by clearly outlining what students should be able to do during the lesson.2.4 Understand and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to promote reconciliation between the indigenous people...
