To fully understand the developmental stages and factors that influence male sexual behavior is necessary. If the young adolescent attends a program, the program must entertain a male perspective. Boys respond to the message differently than girls, so some programs should be specific to boys and men. Furthermore, some activities should be offered separately to young male adolescents. Male Engagement focuses their efforts on the right age and developmental stage of their audience. For example, young fifteen and sixteen year old males believe they are immune and are avid risk takers, fear of STD risks or pregnancy will not help them in the same way it might affect older teenagers or young men. Community efforts should reach the boys and men of the community in the places where they naturally meet, through the media channels they watch on TV and at the times they are available. School efforts are clearly low in themselves because males tend to drop out of school and are at high risk of engaging in unprotected sexual activity. Young adult men are also often the sexual partners of teenage girls. Parents should inform young males in clear, concise and concrete terms, free from technicalities. Young males need messages like “Be Proud, Be Responsible, Be a Man” from California's Men Do Care program. (Moore, Teenage Pregnancy
