Authoritarian parents are very strict, have high expectations and set many rules for their children to follow without any options, otherwise they will be punished in different ways with little to no explanation. This type of parenting style is non-reactive. Permissive parents are not strict, they do not set rules at all and if they have any they are inconsistent, they are very caring and loving. This type of parenting style gives more freedom to their children with less responsibility and they also listen to their children's opinion on serious decisions. Authoritative and permissive parenting styles are very different because the former is much more severe than the latter. Authoritarian parents punish their children when they make a mistake, however, permissive parents act more like friends towards their children and talk about what is going on and make agreements to fix what they have done wrong. The only similarity they have is that they are parents trying to raise their children the way they believe is best for them.
