One of the main bodies, the General Assembly, provides a place for all members to vote, present and express opinions on resolutions and ideas brought to their attention. The importance of this forum has grown as the world becomes increasingly globalized and interconnected. If communication is so immediate, is there a need for formal meetings? The fact remains that there are too many actors and too many problems of coordination and collective action for international organizations not to have a space in which states can all communicate together. It is still important that each state receives information directly and with limited misinterpretation, just because communication can be instantaneous, does not mean that all states will catch up with every other state in the world system. International organizations provide opportunities for all voices to be heard.
