The dental hygienist's responsibilities are to clean teeth, examine patients for signs of oral diseases such as gingivitis, and provide other preventative dental care. They are also responsible for educating patients on ways to improve and maintain good oral health. The dental hygienist removes tartar, stains and plaque from the teeth. Apply sealants and fluorides to protect your teeth. Perform and develop dental radiographs. They also track patient care and treatment plans. Teach patients about oral hygiene, such as how to properly brush and floss. The dental hygienist also helps the dental assistant clean after each patient and helps prepare the next patient. The dental hygienist sits on one sideWhat are your personality strengths that match this career? My personality strength that matches dental hygiene is being good at math. When you are a dental hygienist, you should be pretty good with numbers. The reason you should be good with numbers is because each tooth in your mouth is numbered, so you should know exactly which tooth is which number. Another good strength to have is being good at reading. You should be good at reading to read the patient's medical record and read what needs to be done at the appointment.3. How does this career match your interests? (Realistic, Artistic, Social, Investigative, Conventional, Enterprising) How does this career match your preferred lifestyle? My two main interests are social and investigative. First I like to investigate the teeth, for example what kind of teeth patients have and how they will look later. Also, go deeper into the teeth and perform the surgery. As for social media, I like to be in contact with people who know the lives of patients. I think many people don't like to talk or communicate about their lives, but the more you talk to patients while they work on their teeth, the more patients won't worry about pain. 4. How Does This Career Match Your Multiple Research Ongoing research linking oral health and overall health will continue to drive demand for preventative dental services, which dental hygienists often provide. New and increasingly accurate technologies to help diagnose oral health problems are also expected to increase demand. Example: The new tests use saliva samples taken by a hygienist to detect early signs of oral cancer. As their practices expand, dentists will hire more hygienists to perform routine dental care, allowing the dentist to see more patients7. What are the training requirements? The pediatric dental hygienist must have a 2-year certification program or associate degree program in dental hygiene from an institution accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. You must also have at least a high school diploma or GED, be at least 18 years old at the time of application, maintain a minimum "C" average in all courses, and have excellent scores on college entrance exams. 8.
