The last frame is the downplaying of racism; “a framework that suggests that discrimination is no longer a central factor affecting the life chances of minorities” (Bonilla-Silva 29). This framework attempts to downplay the racial factor as an influence affecting the life chances of minorities. It discredits the possibility of what could be perceived as discrimination and turns it into hypersensitivity on the topic of race. Colorblind racism leaves room for exceptions and allows these frames to be maintained, whether it is direct or indirect racism. The difference between “old” and “new” racism is that the “new” type of racism comes with explanations and excuses that justify the action. With the old racism there was no need to be indirect because it was legal and the majority was for it. When it comes to contemporary racism, some groups (usually the majority) believe that this topic is no longer an issue. That the problem continues to exist only because people continue to talk about racism; acknowledging it as a topic also makes people think it's still a problem. These vague ideas and schemes are a way or excuse to justify white people and maintain their white supremacy. Bonilla-Silva's way of fighting
