In my life I have had numerous experiences that have guided my path towards the nursing profession. However, the birth of my first daughter was fundamental in consolidating my career choice. She was born prematurely at thirty-one weeks and remained in hospital for four months before being discharged home. This was my first interaction with professional nurses; I was impressed by their clinical expertise and compassionate care. It's what first inspired me to get into nursing. During that time I was able to observe professional nurses and nurse practitioners with several years of experience; I felt like I was following them. They earned my respect and admiration, at which point becoming a nurse was my ultimate goal. My second son was diagnosed with autism at the age of two. This type of diagnosis was completely different than what I had previously dealt with. Parenting a child with special needs is challenging and challenging. I feel like these life experiences have made me empathetic, compassionate, and resilient. I have a strong desire to work with people all over the world...
