What is diversity? How do you define this and do you believe children can learn to accept it? Living in America as a first generation American, it seems like I was competing to gain acceptance and understanding from other kids my age growing up. No child wants to be a bully or be bullied. They often find themselves unappreciated or considered different from others, which often leads to an outburst. All this can be prevented if proper education was established. People often misunderstand that a specific culture is completely the same, within which lies the biggest misunderstanding about diversity. Growing up as one of the few Chinese families in the area, people would learn about another Chinese family and assume that my family's traditions and culture were the same. He was immediately told the opposite. Even though both families were indeed Chinese, our traditions, values and beliefs were very different. Introducing multicultural education is important for today's diverse society to increase a better understanding of cultures and differences, as well as learn to accept it. One of the main obstacles is why we care about the injustice of understanding diversity and how we can improve people's understanding. Without this education on multicultural differences, this can cause the multiplication of stereotypes and misunderstanding of others belonging to different cultures. Defining American culture would be like saying that all dogs are the same. It would be too difficult to describe it so that all non-Americans can understand the culture unambiguously. According to Donna Ford, multicultural exposure will help prevent stereotypes and even counteract them. Caucasian students at one school were dealing with the fall... middle of the paper... to fail their students (Aronson and Anderson). According to Aronson and Anderson, many teachers are white, middle-class women, which prevents them from fully educating students of diverse cultural backgrounds. If a football coach could not play football, the team will fail to reach its maximum potential and will be doomed to fail. Moving forward, changes and better ways to educate teachers are needed so they can better educate students appropriately. In the minority community, the failure rate continues to increase in educational systems (Rubal-Lopez and Anselmo 67-70). What problem arises? Their cultures are often misunderstood and widely generalized, so much so that people expect everyone from a particular culture to act the same way. Cultural differences never prevent people from integrating other cultural ideas into their own..
