Louis Hess organized a retreat day, which was a day of worship and enjoyment, hosted in the parish hall. I went to meet the American confirmands, we spent the day doing religious activities, read letters, wrote a letter to Bishop Anthony Taylor and attended a mass aimed at us teenagers. On the day of the retreat, Mrs. Louise reminded us to find a sponsor who will accompany us on the day of Confirmation, but to remember it had to be an adult who would always help us and not make us forget our Catholic ways; however, by then Francisca, a dear family friend, had already asked me to be her goddaughter, so I was good to go. To end our day, Sister Josephina surprised us with a large envelope, for each of us, with letters from our loved ones, which we were not expecting. We spread out around the parish hall, it was nice outside, so I sat at a picnic table nearby. The first letter I read was from my mother, she stated that she was very proud of the young Catholic daughter I was becoming and that I hope to remain with my heart and mind innocent, pure and kind. As I felt the light, warm breeze pass through my hair, I literally felt the love written by my parents, sisters, godmother, godfather, boyfriend, priest and Louise, my heart was filled with warmth and joy. My eyes filled with tears and the barrier holding them broke. I was so excited, because it hit me right then and there that I was going to do it
