The three year old was allowed to take responsibility for his own personal care. The fact that the boy was allowed to take more control over himself and his actions gave me the opportunity to see some fine motor skills. He was coloring the internal shapes as best he could. After he colored the shapes, he was able to sit at the table and use the scissors himself to cut out the shapes. After the boy finished with the shapes and colors, he placed them where he wanted them to be glued onto a separate piece of paper. The children were then provided with biscuits and small cartons of milk for snacks while I watched the little boy manage to pour his own milk into his cup. After the children ate their snack, the boy moved to the blocks where he stacked them and turned them into houses or put them up as walls, just another example of how he uses his fine motor skills. When the children were preparing to leave kindergarten, the child put his socks and shoes back on, even though he had difficulty with the shoelaces, he still attempted to tie them. According to Martorell in chapter 8 he states fine motor skills which are manipulative skills such as buttoning and drawing that involve coordination of the eyes and small muscles (152). The three-year-old used his motor skills to take on more responsibilities
