Throughout the entire film, when you see the society in Dharavi, they were constantly working and on the move. In the video there were people walking up and down the street, baking bread, collecting garbage, studying and making pottery. Overall, the people living in the slum work extremely hard. Their life depends on this hard work and they know it. The society we live in is not like that. For most of our society, if we don't have to work a day, we don't. We have the ability to do this and many of us take it for granted. We don't have to walk miles every day just to get unsanitary water. We don't have to pick up trash in unsafe conditions to make a living. Compared to the people of Dharavi, our society seems a bit lazy in my eyes. Some of us can sleep all day and not think twice. Some kids are able to live with their parents into their twenties and not have to pay a single bill, but the people of Dharavi wouldn't survive if they didn't work. The people of Dharavi have so little and work so hard in life, when we have so much and work so little compared to them. Seeing the conditions they live in and the motivation they have to get up and work hard every day was extremely motivating for me as a child. I don't want to be someone who takes for granted everything America has to offer when there are kids down there living in a slum who will never experience these luxuries. 306
