Topic > Cell phones should be allowed in schools - 822

Imagine this, there was a school lockdown, the suspect cut off the landlines so no one could call the police for a rescue. However, the suspect was caught by the police much faster than he imagined. The last scene wouldn't have happened if it had happened ten years ago, because cell phones weren't popular in schools back then. When it comes to cell phones, some people think they shouldn't be allowed in schools, while others think they should be allowed in schools. I agree with the latter opinion for the following reasons: cell phones are an effective way to communicate when emergencies occur at school; cell phones can be a great tool for learning during school hours; and the current prohibitive cell phone regulations are nothing more than wasted efforts. Cell phones should be allowed in schools because they could be very useful and practical in schools. Cell phones could be a lifesaver in an emergency. A violent incident occurred in New York. Fortunately, a student's timely communication via cell phone saved a man in desperate need of medical attention ("Cell Phones in the Classroom"). Another student helped police arrest the suspect by providing timely crime scene updates using a cell phone during the school lockdown. Many school districts, in fact, have decided to lift the ban on the use of cell phones in school due to "the role that cell phones have had in some emergency situations” (“Cell Phones in the Classroom”). Furthermore, parents could easily be in contact with their children, know where they are through mobile communication, and thus this would dispel parents' worries (Cohen). For example, many parents said they need to stay in touch with their children… in the middle of paper… noisy and distracting. But they can also be an aid to learning."
