Topic > Causes of Animal Cruelty and How to Stop It - 1630

Over the years, animal cruelty has changed, but for the worse, not for the better. Imagine being beaten to the brink of death by a human being. Imagine being forced to fight until either yourself or your opponent dies. Imagine starving yourself so much that body parts start to pop out of your body. Would a human being like to be beaten or starved? Aren't animals as important as humans? Is it worth trying to stop animal cruelty like human abuse? Animal cruelty is currently a growing problem in today's society due to psychological disorders, overpopulation and money and should be stopped. Animal cruelty is a term that is not clearly defined as it deals with many different ways. Two types of animal cruelty are active and passive animal cruelty. Active animal cruelty is defined by Gaps, Georgia's Animal Protective Services, as "involving malicious intent, where a person has deliberately and intentionally caused harm to an animal, and is sometimes referred to as NAI (non-accidental injury)" ( “Animal Cruelty”). Active animal cruelty is intentional and is sometimes the worst thing that happens because someone actually wants to hurt the animal. Actually wanting to hurt an animal is worse than accidentally hurting it, although both are unforgivable. According Gaps. According to Georgia Animal Protective Services, passive animal cruelty is “classified into cases of negligence, where the crime is a failure to act rather than the action itself” (“Animal Cruelty”). Passive animal cruelty covers the negligence part of animal cruelty while active animal cruelty covers parts like fighting between animals and hitting an animal, etc. Psychological disorders are a major cause of animal cruelty. Split personality and being abused as a child are two... at the heart of the paper... of society. The reasons why animal cruelty is such a problem are physiological disorders, overpopulation, and money. Psychological disorders make people think it's okay to do what they want and so be it, they want to hurt defenseless animals. Overpopulation causes animal cruelty because when a space has too many animals to contain, there are not enough resources to sustain their lives. Money causes animal cruelty because some people use animal fighting as entertainment and as a money-making skill. Furthermore, money makes people love their animals and simply can't afford to care for them, but keep them anyway. Although animal cruelty is a problem, some people tend to think that it isn't because society has bigger problems. Finally, animal cruelty is a big problem in today's society because people simply look past it in the scheme of life.
