Parts of the world that were once poor may no longer be poor; schools continue to teach this false information. For example, Chimamanda Adichie, an African American woman, went to college in the United States. Her roommate had the wrong idea that Africa was a very poor and degraded country. He felt pity for them and didn't understand how Adichie knew English and also wasn't from a poor area (Adichie). People are influenced by what they read and learn; schools teach about the poor parts of countries and not the rich side, where people in other countries live just like people in the United States, causing students to have inaccurate ideas
