Originally, Jim Crow laws were limited to railroad cars. Then, in 1898, anti-racism began to weaken. There were several court cases that gave way to more and more Jim Crow laws. A very popular one is Plessy V. Ferguson of 1896. The court implemented the "separate but equal" rule at the conclusion of this case. This made it difficult to establish real boundaries. The nation has adopted a southern attitude of racism. A newspaper spokesman put this into perspective by exaggerating that if there can be Jim Crow cars on the railroads then there should also be Jim Crow waiting saloons, restaurants, jury box sections, platforms and witness stands, and even a Jim Crow Bible for "colored" witnesses to kiss. Starting in 1990, the laws began to extend to more than just passengers aboard trains. The “Whites Only” and “Colored” signs have been put up”.
