There is so much pressure on the shoulders of high school athletes. Schoolwork, sports, family, the future, there is always a decision to make. Sometimes they can create a career, sometimes they can destroy it. Colleges will do anything to get a 5 star student athlete into their program, legal or illegal. If you stay within the rules you can build a program for success, but if you try to cheat you could burn the program to the ground. There are some cases where the school doesn't get caught, but most of the time the cheating will backfire on you. The process in which a college tries to convince a high school student to come to its school is called recruiting. The true meaning of the word recruitment is to replenish. That's basically what recruiting is. When players leave college they try to supply new ones to replace them. College football recruiting is absolutely crazy. Coaches will do almost anything to get a good athlete into their program, and that's their job. There are many rules in recruiting. If you break these rules there are sanctions. You are not allowed to accept money as a player. As a manager you cannot give money to a player. Many teams do this anyway. Penalties for granting player benefits can be loss of scholarships, expulsion from the postseason, or vacating wins in previous seasons. The problem is that many high school students think it's okay to accept the money offered. College basketball and football players were asked if they thought it was unfair to accept money to play college sports and an insane 61% of African American basketball and football players said no. There were also a shocking 34% of white basketball and football players who said it wasn't wrong (W...... middle of paper ......ht. There's that competitive edge in every athlete or coach who wants to win and wants a championship and all that greed results in rule breaking and cheating. You won't be able to stop people from wanting to win and that's why there will always be people who cheat NCAA needs to get it more involved in recruiting and college sports so people know what if break the rules you will get caught. I think the punishments were fair and just for USC, I think they learned their lesson and will no longer cheat happen with other teams Whether it be PED testing or meddling in recruiting they need to start catching people USC deserved all the punishments they got because it sends a message to other schools that you will get caught, but it will eventually come back to haunt you
