One of the major concerns of criminology is why criminals commit the crimes they do. Whether it is due to a mental or genetic illness. Even if the criminal is healthy and has been planning it for months, analyzing its consequences and results. Could it ever be the fault of the society in which the criminal grew up that pushed him to act that way? For many years people have been trying to find out why criminals commit these crimes and the number of theories that have been developed seems to be the same as the number of criminologists. A criminologist is “one who studies the biological and sociological causes and consequences of crime and criminal behavior (such as the effects of mental defects and the social environment).” Their task is to understand why criminals behaved that way and how to change the person so as not to repeat it, in other words to rehabilitate him. Rehabilitation teaches prison inmates to live a better life when they are released instead of being punished in prison. When a criminal commits a crime, the motive for the action is a very important part of the case and after the prisoner is behind the bars, then a solution can be found so that the crime is not repeated by the same convict. There are many reasons why people go from living ordinary, normal lives to people behind bars not having fun. The main reason, however, is the way the child was raised, the way the parents or guardian raised him, because child abuse is one of the main causes of delinquency. Other reasons could be anger or jealousy. For example, a girl named Maxine Breakspear was convicted of murder at the age of 18. When she was in prison interviewed by a journalist, the journalist described her as a... middle of paper...... The number of teenagers has also increased and they are more likely to commit crimes than adults because they are not as mature and they don't take life seriously. However, the bigger the city does not always mean more crimes will be committed. Total crime does not increase when people move to bigger cities and do not take risks because most crimes like murder are caused by conflicts between two or more people, which could happen anywhere depending on whether the area is full of poverty or how the people in the area are raised. The graph on the previous page explains how the number of crimes increases as the community population increases even if it decreases when it reaches 1,000,000 people or more. City with the most populous violent crime rate drops 23%, while property crimes and vehicle thefts drop by 32%.
