It is a necessity for a student of any collegiate institution to obtain the desired degree. When being a student at an online institution, students are required to have a different level of self-discipline than a traditional learning student. With online training, the student receives the material from the instructor and then must take the initiative to learn and understand the material on his or her own. They basically learn independently and do not receive any direct help from their peers or professors. This can be difficult for a student who does not have the motivation or ideas to learn independently. Due to a lack of motivation, many students fall behind in their work, often become discouraged, and eventually consider dropping out. Many students work best in an environment that requires them to go to class. Traditional learning requires the student to be prepared before class. When the information arrives in class it is repeated for better understanding and possibly for class discussion purposes. After that, students are given follow-up assignments for further content training. This creates a physical routine for the student to follow and also creates a sense of responsibility. Most students need structure to be a successful learner because it provides students with the support needed to complete assignments and activities on a daily basis
