As we walk through the world and look at people who pass us by, we judge them by their appearance. The way they wear their clothes, hair and makeup, but also what is on our bodies such as: tattoos and body modifications, which we have judged people harder on. Tattoos and body modifications should not be used to judge people, because it is a way to express oneself and is ultimately an art form. People should not judge others based on the tattoos and body modifications they have on their body. The reason is because tattoos and body modifications do not tell a person's character nor their work ethic. Just because someone has most of their body covered in tattoos and many piercings, it doesn't mean they aren't a wonderful person and good at their job. On a personal level, I have met many amazing people who are covered in amazing tattoos and are the kindest people in the world. But I can understand why jobs will look at a person and I understand why they won't hire them for a job based on the body modifications and tattoos they have. Yes, when you get a job, they have to look presentable and when you work you can cover tattoos with t-shirts and makeup. You should still be able to get the job based on how you work, whether you're good for the job, not how you look. The reason why body modifications and tattoos are all an example of self-expression is because it shows the world how a person feels or what they like. When you walk down the street and see someone with a tattoo of their favorite band or their favorite piece of art you can tell what they like. Additionally, the person might have a quote or portrait of a loved one or someone they feel inspired to be a better person. The same person can use… half the paper… and body modification should not be the basis for judging a person. These two acts are a wonderful way to express ourselves. It means that people no matter their lifestyle, how rich or poor they are or their ideas; they use these acts to express their feelings to the outside world. We as people should not judge them by their appearance but by how they function in their personality and morals. Society should also consider it an art form. People spend thousands of dollars to show how they feel inside, while artists spend years honing this talent to make others happy. We as a society should think before we say "You shouldn't do this to your body", but think if someone told you that you can't do something to your body, how would you feel if someone told you that you can't do something to your body to make you look and feel the way you were meant to be.
