Many of the chronic diseases found in today's society develop because children in the United States are not adequately educated about the importance of dental hygiene. Educating younger generations about dental hygiene and dental care allows them to live healthier lives. This creates intellectual decisions regarding their overall health and will allow future generations to do the same. Numerous researchers and dentists have observed that this topic is an important emerging issue not only in pediatric dentistry but also in general dentistry. According to Paul Griffin Information Knowledge System Management, dental caries is the most common chronic disease among both children and adults in the United States. Griffin goes into more detail about dental hygiene when discussing recent national data that suggests several disparities exist in dental care due to a lack of dental care resources. Since there is a lack of dental care, this in effect causes a lack of dental education among younger generations which leads to most of the chronic diseases that are prominent in the United States today. The role of government in the United States is enormous in both economic and social terms. If the government decided to inform its citizens about the importance of hygiene, especially dental hygiene, this would not only cause a decrease in disease rates but also enable economic prosperity for various reasons.
