Apply the Bentley College Center Business Ethics Test, page 482, to an ethical dilemma you have recently faced. Would the result remain unchanged if I had used the test before facing the dilemma? Ethics is the moral obligation to separate right from wrong. Legal acts can sometimes present ethical challenges to businesses. Ethics are important in society. They are a dynamic and individual concept strongly influenced by social governance, laws, regulations and codes of conduct. A practical way to improve ethical decision making is to subject contemplated decisions to an ethical test when in doubt. This ethics test was used at the Center for Business Ethics at Bentley College as part of a business training program. Decision makers are taught to ask themselves: Is this right? Is this right? Who could get hurt? Would you feel comfortable if the details of your decision were reported on the front page of the newspaper? Would you tell your child to do it? What does it “smell” like? Bottom line, if you answer “YES” to all six questions, you probably aren't ethical
