In humankind, heterosexuality (attraction to people of the opposite sex) is considered normal. However, over the years, homosexuality (same-sex attraction) has become more common. The origin of homosexuality dates back to the 5th century BC Homosexuality became very popular in ancient Greece. The Greeks approved of homosexual relationships. However, when homosexuality first became popular, relationships were rarely sexual. Most relationships were usually between older men and younger guys. These relationships were more courtship rituals than anything else. In other parts of the world, however, homosexuality has been kept secret between couples for many years. Incredibly, it is still hidden today. It is kept secret because homosexuality is not considered normal in society. Therefore, to avoid being judged, ridiculed and belittled, homosexuality is practiced in secret. Over the years, however, homosexuals have grown tired of not being able to do what they believe in, whenever and wherever they want. Many homosexuals began to fight for their right to do what they wanted. What non-homosexuality supporters thought or said about homosexuals no longer influenced the homosexual community. Although many people still do not agree with homosexuality, our society today has started to accept homosexuals as the norm. The homosexual community has faced, and still faces, many difficulties. Homosexuals are constantly judged based on their feelings and beliefs. Many homosexuals and supporters believe this is not right, especially those in Ame...... middle of paper ...... approve of it because they are afraid that children will learn to be homosexual. If a child grows up in this environment, he will most likely assimilate to the homosexual lifestyle. Non-supporters fear that homosexuality is set to shape the world. Non-supporters are attempting to break the cycle. Although non-supporters are doing everything in their power to end homosexuality, the world's homosexual population is steadily increasing. Homosexuals constantly fight for rights. Acceptance of homosexuality is becoming more and more abundant. Homosexuals struggle every day to be accepted by society. With the end of gay victimhood, the legalization of gay marriage, and the availability of options for raising children in a gay family, they are certainly achieving this goal. Therefore, homosexuals are rapidly adapting to the norm.
