I believe this intervention could help him come to terms with the life he leads now because he could see himself as having “control of the problem and give it a precise definition (Payne , 2006).” In his case a term like Sadness at Home could allow him to focus on the problem and not see himself as the problem since there were events happening outside of his control. His reactions could be a problem, but he wouldn't be the problem since it's understandable that he would react the way he has since this sadness occurred. The notes on the sessions, in particular on Jared's narratives as he sees the topic, would have led me to the intervention which involved the use of therapeutic tools
