Gambling is a problem when it gets in the way of work, school or other activities and damages mental or physical health. It hurts people financially and damages their reputation; these problems occur along a continuum and are not distinct categories but possible points along a range of involvement. Conclusion Many people who gamble too much have mixed feelings about gaming. They know they are causing problems for the people they love. They can become anxious and unhappy and sometimes often hate themselves. But the desire to play seems too great to resist. They feel they can't give up all the time, money and emotions they've invested in gambling. They cannot accept the fact that they will never regain what they have lost. Some people still believe that their system will pay off, that their luck will change or that they are destined to win. Others believe that continuing to play is the only way out of a situation they are ashamed of. Other people promise to quit, but can't. They fear that their loved ones will find out about them. This pushes them even further into hiding and into further debt. They continue to hope that a big victory will end their problems. Occasionally they may win, which keeps their hope alive until the losses mount again. If they left now, they would feel like losers. They will have to deal with all the gambling problems
