One thing a teacher can do is collect activity ideas in a resource file. This can include businesses that have been successful in the past and new ideas. The file should be organized with classification headings, adding additional headings as needed. The file can then be used to assist in planning lessons and activities. Centers for pretend play, construction play, fine motor play and a play center provide many opportunities for language and literacy development. Finally, outdoor play can also provide many opportunities for literacy development. Reading outdoors – under a tree or on a blanket – is a fun way to share the love of books.
