Through the prism of time, the position of women in America has changed, especially during the periods from 1890 to 1925. For them, things have not only changed economically but also political. Many assumptions made about the nature of women have drastically affected their position. From 1890 to 1925 it contributed to a notable adjustment in statements about the nature of women and to a significant improvement in the general position of women in America. The development of the economy had changed dramatically by the late 1800s. Technology was forming and becoming big. In 1879 a man named Thomas Edison invented a new-to-America creation, the light bulb. His invention brought people the scientific brake - electricity. For the first time people did not have to work in the dark or by candlelight, they could now do their work beyond normal hours. The light bulb gave American citizens 13 hours of light and from there the Edison Electric Company was born. Along with the light bulb came the sewing machine which dramatically changed the female workforce. With the new technology came factories, sweatshops, and garment workers. This brought women out of the household and into the world of work (Doc. E). Domestic work had been largely eradicated by modern technology and electricity. Canned goods, bakeries, and laundries were widely used by middle- and upper-class Americans. Home economics courses provided women with the opportunity to become more resourceful managers within their homes. More and more women began to graduate as more and more universities realized the potential of women. This has allowed women to be more accepting in the world of work and expand their business opportunities. Awareness... at the center of the card... Ren and the house. Women eventually fought to gain the right to have equal opportunities with men. During the Progressive Era, they overcame numerous obstacles at various stages. Women sought to make change as the nation's problems weighed on their families, reshaping their image in the economy, society, politics, and civic institutions. Women fought for better working conditions, equal pay, higher education and the right to vote. Women are often banded together through organized groups, such as NCL or the National Women's Suffrage Association (NWSA) to achieve these changes. True legislative reform, however, was not possible until women gained the right to vote. If progressivism had not begun, women today would still be discriminated against on the basis of sex. Women would do the same thing and America would have made no advances in technology.
