In chapters 55 -56, Sir Leigh Teabing begins with Sophie telling him all the information she thinks she knows about the Last Supper and taking her down another path. He goes on to talk about the amount of glasses of wine, where Jesus is sitting, and who is sitting next to him. Teabing points out that the person sitting next to Jesus is Mary Magdalene, the prostitute (308-314). Here's the problem, the person who is actually sitting next to Jesus is John the Evangelist. Many of John's portraits portray him in a very feminine manner. He is depicted with long, red, flowing hair, like Mary. In his time, young men were portrayed with a larger chest, which would have strong similarities to a woman's breasts. St. John the Evangelist is even displayed in the Louvre Museum with more feminine features, bringing me to the next one
