“Ring around the rosy pocket full of bouquets.” Most people just think of it as a nursery rhyme. It's actually a nursery rhyme about the Death Star. The Black Death was a horrendous and contagious disease that killed millions of people in the 1300s. This plague affected people in Europe in such a way that people believed God and even nursery rhymes punishing them were invented about it. It is probably one of the worst catastrophes in the history of medicine. The first documented plague was that of Justinian, which began in 541 AD. The plague had disappeared by 700 AD and did not reappear until 1328. (History) When the plague returned it struck China first, then arrived in England in 1348. It remained in England until 1350. The plague had also killed 20 million people in Europe, almost a third of the population. (eyewitness to history) The plague was believed to kill up to 10,000 people a day. Which by the end had killed a total of over 75 million people. The spread of the plague was caused by trade routes, animals and the air. Even though it was moving in many ways, most of the people who contracted the plague were poor and middle class, not many rich people had contracted the plague. (History) People were not the only thing affected by the plague that afflicted many animals. Some of the animals infected were mice, camels, squirrels, prairie dogs, rabbits and chipmunks.
