Although Victor and his father had many intimate moments and understand each other well, Victor's father ultimately leaves his son. It's so cruel to a child that his father abandoned him, especially to a boy who has so many wonderful memories of his father. But Victor still misses the good times spent with his father and hopes that his father will return one day. Victor "stayed on the porch all night and imagined his father's motorcycles and guitars, until the sun rose so bright" (Alexie 331), because he misses his father, he even has a dream for himself imagining that his father is waiting for him outside. It's a little sad to read these heartbreaking details, no one wants to see a little boy disappointed. But Victor has to try to get used to the fact that his father no longer lives with him. Back when Victor's parents didn't divorce, Victor would even “fall asleep under the table with his head near his father's feet” (Alexie, 326). Furthermore, when Victor remembers his father, he says “call me and hold me tight with his arms, his bad breath and body odor cover me like a blanket” (Alexie 326). In general, covering a blanket makes us feel good. Victor would use covering a blanket to describe his father's bad breath and body odor, which shows us how he feels about his father, that is, Victor loves him, no matter what his faults are. Even though his father's abandonment hurts him, those good old days will remain in his heart forever. Most children who grow up in a single family behave like Victor, they miss their father/mother but also hate him because of his
