Finding Nemo...the independence it deserves After much thought and contemplation, one character who I feel made significant changes in the film is Marlin . Now Marlin is a clownfish from the movie Finding Nemo. Marlin makes several changes throughout the film based solely on the problems he faces and how he chooses to handle them. He faces four major problems, and the choices he makes in response to those problems change his entire outlook on life. He faces the loss of most of his family, confronts death, and ultimately finds what he truly wants in life. Marlin is a clownfish who, together with his wife, lives on the edge of a coral reef in an anemone. . It's what anyone can imagine, a "newlywed". He, together with his wife Coral, lives in the anemone where they have just laid their eggs. They come to a quick decision about what to name their children. Half will be named Marlin Jr. and the other half will be named Coral Jr. Even though decisions were made quickly, Coral wants to name a baby Nemo. During the process of the eggs maturing enough to hatch, the reef is attacked by a barracuda. While this attack is underway, the barracuda searches for their eggs and attempts to protect his family, Marlin becomes unconscious and remains in that state overnight. When he comes to, he finds that all the eggs and Coral are gone. The only thing left from the massacre is a damaged egg, Nemo calls it. Years pass and we find that as a result of his encounter, Marlin has become paranoid of anything happening to Nemo and won't let him go out and experience life on his own. He must stay at home and not go... middle of paper... and find ways to change them, even if in a small way. The reason I chose to use Finding Nemo and the character of Marlin is because he is the character in the film that undoubtedly changes the most. Like every main character in every movie, they face challenges along the way, and the way you can tell they change the most is how they react to those challenges. Marlin faced the loss of most of his family and changed, becoming paranoid and overprotective of his son. He looked the danger, Skar 5, in the face, became brave, and discovered that while things may seem dangerous, they are not always as they appear. And he eventually listened to the advice of the creatures around him and came to trust others as he would expect others to trust him. He found what he was looking for in life, happiness.
