“Happiness involves a deep sense of purpose in life,” quoted Mike Steere in Pursuit of Happiness. But how exactly does happiness serve a purpose in life? The answer is within you. Only you know what your happiness is and what it does for you. Happiness resides within me in different ways. Happiness definitely plays a big role at this point in my life. At this point in my life I am connected to many people who I love and who love me. Now that I'm older I can see the world differently and know what it's capable of. The world has taught me who my true friends are and who I can trust. The people who have stayed with me are the people who have brought me great pleasure and happiness in my life. At this point in my life I am happy to say that after sixteen years I will no longer be an only child, I will soon have a little brother who will bring even more happiness into my life. “Happiness is a beautiful feeling that enters my mind every day,” he quotes Kraas Aldo in his poem Happiness. This quote in particular relates to me because whenever I am faced with some sort of problem or conflict I always try to remind myself that I am happy and that everything in my life is wonderful and nothing and no one could take that away from me. Happiness helped me overcome all the challenges and obstacles in my life, “Happiness takes away my sadness” (Aldo line 5). Happiness has the ability to bring someone great thoughts and desires; as I wish I could be the best I could be every single day and every second of the day. “Happiness elevates me” (Aldo line 1). Happiness not only helps me remind myself of who I am, but it gives me a sense of inspiration that roots my soul and heart. I identify with this verse because I know what happiness means to me, it is my strength and it is my fortress, without happiness I am lost. “Applause if you believe happiness is the truth” (Williams), happiness is true for me, it has brought me many amazing memories in my life and got me through very difficult times, I believe happiness is the truth. Nothing will make me sink, no matter what people say or think: "There's nothing that can bring me down" (Williams). I will not let anything or anyone interfere with my happiness, I will not back down from a challenge: "Well, give me all you have, don't hold it back" (Williams verse 2). Happiness is what keeps me going, it is what makes me the person I am today and it resides within me: "Happiness is everything" (Steere).
