Interpersonal communication was discussed in “Health and Social Services for the Aging Population” when the speaker addressed how a variety of specialists are needed such as nutritionists, physical therapists, nurses and more establish a healthy lifestyle for this older generation. It would have been interesting to see the types of professionals who collaborated with nutrition or social networks, but that information was not sent to the class. There was also a small discussion on diversity in the conferences “Health care and social services for the aging population” and “Social marketing and health communication”. The healthcare presentation debunked the myth that African-Americans live shorter lives than Caucasians after age 65, while the social marketing suggested that different social networking sites are targeting different ages, genders and personalities.
