What is it like to grow up in today's society? How are children and young adults influenced by the films and videos they see, the music they listen to, the magazines they read? Society is becoming increasingly capable of constantly entertaining, informing, or connecting with other people at the touch of a button, which can have both positive and negative effects on young people. While this rapid convenience has positively affected people by providing educational materials and social experiences that otherwise would not be possible, it has also had negative effects. Examinations of levels of violence on television showed 7.5 violent acts per hour in prime time in the United States. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, an American child who watches television 2-4 hours a day will have witnessed 8,000 murders and 100,000 other depictions of violence by age 18. The media has long been labeled as one of the things that influence people the most; is important in the lives of young people, who have access to a variety of devices and multimedia content. Studies have shown that significant exposure to media containing violence increases the risk of aggressive behavior, the media has become progressively sexualized and, above all, today's youth have too much access to the media. I have the right to discuss this topic because I am among the young people who are constantly influenced by the media. One of the most widely studied areas of media influence involves forms of media that contain hostility and violent behavior. A study shows that young adults are learning aggressive attitudes and actions by watching programs and movies that show such behavior. Young people therefore acquire the anxiety of being victims of violence. What they see and hear on most programs is... middle of paper... the way teenagers and young adults think and act are influenced by the media. Media violence can lead to assertive behavior in minors and this is supported by research which states that by the time a child reaches 18, they must have seen around 200,000 acts of violence on television alone. When it comes to sex, three out of four teenagers say that television shows and movies make it seem normal for children their age to have sex. Parents can reduce the negative influence of the media on young people by limiting and monitoring the programs their children watch. In almost all studies conducted on the effects of the media on young people, the results have been significantly modified in case of close intervention by an adult. However, it is nearly impossible to protect young adults from potentially harmful images in the media these days..
