The article first talks about how America clearly has a problem and highlights the inherent racial bias of whites versus blacks. Then, he points out the statistics of shootings of black men by white police officers and how Barack Obama had to use part of his State of the Union address to talk about “black-white dialogue in America.” Finally, he questions why this implicit racial bias is not a national debate. The article points out that we know a lot about racial bias, but asks why we aren't doing anything to stop it. Nesbit argues that “inherent racial bias is not a liberal concoction or a conservative conspiracy.” To support this argument, he points out that it is nothing but the truth, and talks about how the social and political sciences are starting to show evidence. Nesbit's claim that racial biases are built into people's minds is convincing as there is evidence and surveys to support his claim; Furthermore, these statistics will prove useful for my research. While before meeting this source I believed that yes, racial prejudice existed, but it wasn't a big problem.
