The NCAA Hypocrite My opinion is that the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a corporation founded over 100 years ago by President Theodore Roosevelt because he was trying to save the sport of football from being killed by the progressives of the time. The idea was to "govern competition in a fair, safe, equitable, and sportsmanlike manner and to integrate intercollegiate athletics into higher education so that the student-athlete's educational experience is paramount." a hypocritical business that has grown too big and now makes billions from the kids' unpaid hard work and completely exploited talents. It's amazing that this is accepted in this country, it just seems intolerable to me. They exercise great authority over their members and get away with it due to the huge financial interests that are involved with everyone involved, from the schools to the children themselves. They continue to gradually become more powerful and even more selfish. They are very selective in prosecuting rule violations and even selectively reopen cases. Their controlling division is unfair, vindictive, and does its job by relying on cohesion. Their procedures fall far short of constitutional standards. There were entire NCAA investigations that consisted of rumors believed to be credible testimony heard by NCAA investigative teams, reliance on their oral recollections by sources, no oral consideration, and no cross-examination of eyewitness accounts pertaining to such recollections was permitted to allow any inaccuracies in their reporting to be retracted, and where the entire NCAA audit committee staff has been...... middle of paper......and some of the problems and attacks others. Changing the rules of the game, the actions on the field and protecting their portfolios is much cleaner than actually changing the way they operate as a business and possibly losing some of their cash flow.
