On May 3, 2014, my local church held a meet and greet for all the girls in attendance. First we gathered in groups of two to introduce ourselves, then we took turns in rotation. The meeting lasted about an hour and a half then it was time to leave. “How did you like today's session?” Mom said. “It's been nice so far, we've had a chance to meet everyone.” Over the summer we had information sessions on empowering ourselves and enhancing community. Some of our sessions included topics like developing healthy relationships, fashion and beauty, preparing for college, budgeting, getting scholarships, and so much more. A session called Love and Healthy Relationships really helped to empower me. During the session we talked about what it was like to have a good relationship with our friends and about all the qualities of having a good boyfriend. One of our Delta mentors asked, “What qualities do you look for in a man?” We were all smiling and looking at each other. We all answered her question and then she gave us her feedback from a grown woman's perspective. Overall, the conversations were very important to talk about and had an impact on the way some of us think in everyday life
