The article “Year-Learning: Are Summer Vacations Over…Forever?” an article in The Week Magazine, "Students learn and experiment during the summer after school ends" ("Year-Round"). Year-round education (YRE) is a traditional school program in the United States of America that provides nine months of education and three months of summer vacation. The YRE has been present in society since the early 1900s (Bussard). At the end of the 180 days, the teachers and students enjoyed a relaxing holiday during the three-month summer break. Schools will continue to follow the 180 calendar day system; however, these will have a shorter duration. The traditional calendar is simply changing instruction and summer vacation so that all students and staff are in school or on vacation at the same time. Many people think that YRE is a good idea for students to improve academic achievement; but there are several reasons why going to school all year round is a bad idea against YRE due to family tradition, work experience and air conditioning. The first reason for the traditional school year, students should have a break and spend time for traditional family vacation. For summer holidays that do not last longer than YRE, students will have shorter breaks of three to four weeks compared to returning to school. They attend school for more than 180 calendar days. For example, students feel all the stress from heavy homework, tests, studying, and quizzes, but they need a break. Indeed, summer vacations are a family tradition. The YRE should provide an opportunity for health and social education. Additionally, most of the 2.5 million U.S. school kids missed out on summer vacation as their school districts chose YRE ("Year-Rou......middle of the paper...air conditioning and they need to do to keep these kids cool,” Stams (Fitzpatrick). Students complained of the 90-degree heat in the classroom and the difficulty of concentrating and learning in a horrible environment. In fact, these are 12 of the 255 public schools in the United States have air conditioning (“Hawaii”). Bottom line, year-round education is not a good idea because kids need time off, work experience, and poor air conditioning YRE changes a lot in the summer program no break for kids.Kids need a break will reduce stress and flexible time for family When sitting in a classroom knowing the audience outside in different schools having more fun in the summer we must feel bad The answer is that we shouldn't. Summer should be enjoyed and not spent in class.
