The illusion of lying is a great illusion, which most people use without realizing it. What is illusion? Ericsson defines it as “Delusion, the cousin of dismissal, is the tendency to see apologies as facts. It is a powerful tool of lying because it filters out information that contradicts what we want to believe” (Ericsson 480). People tell themselves why they do things every day, but deep down they aren't always the real reason why they do what they do. People use an object or situation as a reason for their actions. People use these reasons to avoid the truth behind why they do something because it's something they're ashamed of.
