Brontë's novel Wuthering Heights highlights three main relationships, which reminds us that there are a variety of examples of love relationships between the characters, Cathy and Heathcliff, Cathy and Linton, Catherine and Hareton. In order for the relationship to be presented in the most convincing way, this essay will try to explain the numerous elements that must support them, including social status, the real chemistry between the couple and shared moral values. The importance of social status is one of the components among love relationships and differs between each of the three relationships. Between Cathy and Heathcliff, everything changes when Cathy is seriously injured during one of her many excursions with Heathcliff. During this time, she transforms into a respectable woman, and thus claims a higher social status than Heathcliff. This causes a serious conflict between Cathy and Heathcliff because they no longer have the same social status. It results in the social divide between them that drives Heathcliff apart. Social status is so important to her that she marries Edgar Linton as a way to move up the social ladder because he had been raised in an educated and wealthier home than Heathcliff. Catherine also hopes that Edgar will support his friend Heathcliff. A battle ensues between Edgar and Heathcliff when Edgar unsuccessfully tries to keep Cathy and Heathcliff apart due to their different social statuses. Cathy dies giving birth to Catherine who grows up living a sheltered life with her father Edgar. After Edgar's death, Catherine is seventeen and Heathcliff sends her into financial ruin because he controls her money. This causes Catherine's social status to decline and become equal to Hareton's. Because after...... half of the paper ......ionship but similar superficial values such as wealth and decorum. Cathy also broke Edgar's relationship by being manipulated by Heathcliff into returning him to her heart. Where Catherine and Hareton initially had different moral values, as Hareton's passion for Catherine develops and this demonstrates his efforts to impress Catherine and change his own values by teaching himself how to read and acquire knowledge in order. For a successful and convincing love relationship the following components must be present. These include the importance of social status, real chemistry between the couple and shared moral values. Without these elements, the components of a solid relationship will be fulfilled, so the foundation will eventually collapse, as indicated above. Therefore of the three reports, that of Catherine and Hareton is the most convincing one presented.
