Ithaca was a leafy mountain that you can infer is always green because he describes Ithaca as sunny. He could also infer that when he uses the word sun it reminds him of happier times because the color yellow related to psychology could represent cowardice, deception, sunshine, optimism, happiness and/or warmth Since Ulysses uses the word sunny it reminds us of sunlight which, in turn, reminds us of yellow, eliminates the psychological association of cowardice and deceit. He also states that his island is the farthest from the sea compared to the other islands which are Dulichion, Same and Zakynthos. In lines 28-29 he describes how the sun rises in the other kingdom compared to his kingdom due to the fact that Ulysses would like to see the sunset in his kingdom and know that his long journey is over. Then Odysseus states, “Mine is a harsh but good land for raising children – / and I myself, know no sweeter sight on earth / than a man's native country.” (30-33). It's telling that even though Ithaca is a little rough, it's great for raising kids. He goes
